Made a couple rides in the last couple days. Testing a new training/progress tracking tool for the iphone.  it's tracking my progress, speed and location via GPS, so i can see route and distance changes, speed changes, etc.
It's going to let me see my progress as i start from ZERO training up until i complete the ride that i'm preparing for.  I'm going to challenge myself.  a LOT. i intend to participate in and finish THIS RACE.  It's a longboarding marathon.  26.2 miles on a longboard.  i'm motivated, excited and have a long way to go.  I'll be posting random training shots like this out here to keep monitoring my progress.  When i get home from my work training here in Schaumburg, i want to have figured out a 10 mile training loop for home, so i have some distance training to work towards.  I want to be able to complete 10 miles each ride by mid april, so i can keep pushing myself up to the 26 miles for the ride itself.

Wish me luck!

In another town

I find myself finally recovered from an ill-advised hardware installation at the office that made my back stiff and sore for a couple weeks.  Shh.  Don't tell anyone.  Anyway.  i'm back up and running, full strength, and a few pounds lighter, and in a city with significantly less snow than home.  It's not far south, but on the other side of Lake Michigan, so it's quite a bit drier.

and the sun is out.

and it's 50 degrees.

sitting in the passenger seat of my car is the ibach. i bet it's gonna see some use tonight. Maybe after that i'll post up the details of the adventure i'm gonna take this summer. ok.  maybe after i visit Ikea, that's right across the street.

it's there. can you hear it? slowly fading in from the silence...

Mick shouting to move faster! Apollo chanting eye of the tiger!

IF YOU CAN DODGE A WRENCH YOU CAN DODGE A BALL!
(oops.  wrong movie. sorry.)

I may not be going up for the Heavyweight Championship of the World, but the message still applies!

LET IT BEGIN!

Hey There! Remember Me?

I'm considering doing something crazy.  Doing a little bit of research and a little bit of soul searching first, to make sure I'm up to taking this new challenge on. I think I have the support structure I need, now to see if I have the willpower to see it to the end.

I'll probably take a couple days to ponder before I announce what I'm considering.

In the meantime: I welcome myself back to the blogosphere. YAY!
